Questions

The things people ask before signing up

Fees, escrow, VAT, verification and what happens when something goes wrong.

What does it cost?

Creating a profile, posting a project and applying for work are always free. Freelancers pay 15% on the first €5,000 billed to a given client, 10% up to €10,000, then 5%. Clients pay a service fee on top of the agreed amount: 15% on the first €5,000 with a given freelancer, then 10%. The tiers count per working relationship, so both sides pay less the longer they work together.

When does the freelancer get paid?

The client funds each milestone before the work starts, and the money is held in escrow. It is released when the client approves the delivery — or automatically after 7 days without a response. On release it moves to your connected Stripe account and is paid out to your EU bank account on Stripe’s payout schedule.

What if the work is not delivered?

A milestone that is not approved is not released, so the money stays in escrow. If the two sides disagree, EuroHive reviews the brief, the delivery and the message history and makes a binding determination within 10 business days.

How is VAT handled between two EU countries?

Invoices are generated with the correct cross-border treatment for both countries. A valid EU VAT number applies reverse charge automatically, so no VAT is added. Without one, VAT is charged at the applicable rate.

Am I an employer if I hire someone here?

Engagements are project contracts with defined deliverables and milestones rather than open-ended hourly work, and the paperwork is kept that way. Classification ultimately depends on how the work is actually carried out, so the responsibility stays with the client. EuroHive is a marketplace facilitator, not a party to the contract.

How are freelancers verified?

Every freelancer passes identity verification with a government-issued document before the profile goes live, and must be based in the EU. The document is deleted the moment a moderator approves or rejects it — only the result and an audit entry remain.

Where is my data stored?

In the EU. The platform runs in Amsterdam. What is collected and how long it is kept is written down in the Privacy Policy rather than left to assumption.

Which languages does the platform work in?

Nine: English, Danish, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Dutch, Polish and Swedish. Messages from the other party are translated into yours automatically, with the original one click away.

Which countries can I work with?

All 27 EU member states. Freelancers must be based in the EU, and payouts go to an EU bank account.

Is EuroHive live yet?

The platform is in beta. You can create a profile, post work and hire today — and the earlier you start, the sooner your fee tier begins to fall.
